2–3 Years

Early learners

Talking, choosing and solving. Children start running their own play here, and we set the room up so their ideas have somewhere to go.

What a day looks like

This is the year of the long sentence and the strong opinion. The room is arranged so children can fetch what they need themselves, because choosing is most of the learning at this age.

What your child will learn

  • Talking things through

Naming feelings, asking for things, and being answered properly rather than managed.

  • Independence

Coats, shoes, snacks and tidying — slowly, badly at first, and without anyone taking over.

  • Problem solving

Puzzles, building and the useful frustration of a tower that keeps falling down.
