1–2 Years

Toddler explorers

Music, stories, water, sand and a great deal of climbing. This is the year children work out what their bodies can do and how to be near other children.

What a day looks like

Toddlers need room and something to climb. The day alternates between big movement and settling — a walk or the garden, then stories on the mat — because that swing is what keeps a two-year-old happy.

What your child will learn

  • Movement and balance

Climbing, carrying, walking on uneven ground — the whole body, every day, outdoors when we can.

  • First friendships

Sharing, turn-taking and the very early work of noticing what somebody else wants.

  • Language through story

Songs, rhymes and repeated books — the same ones, on purpose, until they are known by heart.
